Declines are the fact of life in every conventional oil well. You start with flush production which rapidly falls off. the longer the well produces the lower (and flatter) decline rates become until many years out it become uneconomic. Multi-stage frac drilling is that way, only more so. The flush is a hell of a lot more flush, the first decline steeper but even that flattens out. Everyone quickly learns their declines. Some get behind their decline rates and go broke. Some keep well ahead. It is geology and economics. I suspect there is almost no Canadian oil companies that know their decline rates better and know how to exploit those rates more effectively than CPG.
