RE:Imperialism Déjà Vu
Very interesting reading. Another worriesome factor is how dependant we have become (yes, even in Canada)on other countries for food supply. Watch prices of fruit when California or Florida or even Chilie, Argentina are hit with frosts, early winters, or other factors which play havoic with crops.
What if a major weather event where to wipe out of produce and food supply from the States.
Romane lettuce, tomatoes, peaches, banana,s carrots, grapes, -the list is endless of what we import.
We have millions of acres of good fertile land in Canada that is no longer used for growing and farming. The price of steak, chicken ect . is bizzare, considering how much vast growing space we have. The farmer gets little, the middle man takes it all, and we pay the premium. We have become so accustomed to this, we don't even notice. If the local grocery store where to slam shut, most coundn't cope. Also, on another note, in the futute it is said, millions of people may be dsiplaced by arctic melitng, which will bring rising levels of water to coastline cities and make them inhabitable.
Time to walk my 2 Airdales. Enjoy your Sunday all.
