RE:RE:RE:Smartcool gets rolling with Jaguar / Land Rover Hi Eunice,
This announcement is not about Jaguar itself and having them advertising the product or about the product going into mass distribution thru Jaguar. This is an announcement about a commercial technical success and that is a requirement as a building block for a company. This deployment is not even implemented using a recurring revenue model, we don't even know if it was profitable at this level; however, what it does do, "IF" properly leveraged, is gain Smartcool a foothold that may be able to be leveraged into a much larger opportunity with a much large entity - Tata.
Doing business with Tata would create a much larger commercial opportunity and could, if handled properly and with a little luck, be launched into a wide scale consumer product offering as well. And both of these directions could be implemented using that previously mentioned recurring revenue model.
Tata reaches millions upon millions of consumers and in a region where a solution of this nature could be very beneficial. The Jaguar / Land Rover deal is not unto itself a company maker, it is a building block and hopefully a means to an end.
I am not sure what your history is with the company, but you obviously feel the company has been mismanaged and that they have not been held accountable for the mistakes they have made - that may very well be fair, as I have not been around the company long enough to comment directly historically (first pass suggest that you may be right); however, they seem to be working in the right direction, controlling their debt, working on projects that increase their potential reach, and developing a new found respectability in the industry - those are key to turning a company around.
As I have indicated there is also some relatively new blood involved in the company management and I believe they have the potential to implement change and to "help" get this turned around. Only time will tell if they are able to actually fix this, but the company deserve some kudos for the progress being made. Now they need to turn it into revenue and into market recognition so that value is reflected in a way that benefits the shareholder.
Salut,
