Just some info regarding my post:
1. The majority of my clients do have addictions - OVER SPENDING ADDICTIONS!
When I go through their bank info, I will see other payday loan companies on them. I will see
retail stores after retail stores and liquor stores. They may not be alcoholics, but I am surprised by
some statements to see liquor stores on them. It is not just payday loan clients that over spend - it is the
majority of Canadians. It is the payday loan client that continually cycles through that either got
themselves in too deep or did not have the same opportunities as others.
2. When I stated "Client's who got out SUCCESSFULLY" - I was being sarcastic. I have guided
clients out of payday loans, but the majority will return 2 to 3 months down the road. I have even
gone over and above the call of duty and have provided the clients a monthly budget.
3. We all have choices and we do have the ability to live within our means. Some of us tend to dream
large and attempt to capture those dreams a little to fast - and this is personally speaking!!! If I
knew what I know now "5 years ago" I would have made better decisions. Some of us
are fortunate to have good credit, but good credit can only take us so far. In the end, the majority
of us are living beyond our means or beyond our necessities.
4. The provinces that are currently forbidden to loan are not in regulated provinces. When I first
started with the company, we were not regulated. I guess the clientele could differ from
province to province. It is probably easier to get my clients temporarily out of payday loans in
my province than it would in Ontario. Alberta has tons of jobs and I know that Ontario lacks in
this area.
5. In the end, it is not the end of the world for a client to have the inability to pay their loan out in full.
unless its fraud, the client will not go to jail for it. There is always time to have the loan paid out,
especially now that the law office is no longer collecting on our behalf. Money is just money and
yes we need it to survive, but I have had clients that have gone through the collection process and
were making payments through us and continued to make payments through NCC. Every person has the option and ability to place extra payments on their current loan or late loan, it could very well be GST money or another income and it could be as simple as putting down an extra $20. I work at a fast pace branch and from the bank info that I have received from clients - they have the ability to get out of it. We are all responsible for our own financial world and we all have the ability to educate ourselves about
money and budgeting. We have more access to info then we ever have and we really do not have an excuse to not take advantage of the info out there. I personally took the time to visit a bank that I do not frequent to find out options. I learned quite a bit of useful info and I did not go forth with using their services. I refuse to not take responsibility for my own actions and I refuse to place
the blame in one area. Like I mentioned in my last post, I can go on playing blame game all day,
but in the end I am still responsible for paying my own bills. It is what it is and if we care about our finances, then it is our responsibility to self educate ourselves about the services we use. Many clients do not care about credit and threw in the towel well before they entered our doors. The majority of people are only $500 in the hole and end up going to a bank to receive a loan for $10,000 and then find themselves in huge debt and end up using our services. Our set income clients have been rejected by the banks and end up as our clients. I can tell you this... All of our clients do have something in common and its "over spending"! Over spending is an addiction. If over spending is a nation wide issue, I guess that our education system is failing to educate us on the basic necessities, "food, shelter, clothing, and safety". Maybe we should start blaming the economy for making these basic necessities more attractive. TRe-edited response

Maybe we should start blaming the economy for making these basic necessities more attractive. The payday loan vendor is an option just like walking into a store to buy an unnecessary pair of shoes. Unfortunately the Government and the Banks are making it almost a forced decision to use banking services. The time is nearing where a person will be forced to use a bank and to pay bank fees in order to receive their welfare or pension. Before anyone starts to place the blame on payday loan companies, they better start taking a deeper look at the overall situation.
6. The FCSRs may be more than happy to capitalize, but what person isn't? If you have the
opportunity to make more money - you and any person will take that opportunity whether its a payday loan company or any company.
We all over generalize our own situations and we make things more complicated than they actually are. I myself am sticking it out with the company, but I am not in fear if I need to find another job. I am not responsible for the mess that Corporate made and I am not responsible for the choice that clients make. I disclose all information to my clients and all clients are fully aware of all options offered. I will put it this way, "I can sleep at night". I guess we all have our own perceptions, but are we going to continue to play this blame game or are we going to take responsibility of our own finances?
