I think that you have a fairly sensible approach to the uncertainty of future financial possibilities.
This is a far cry from the “true believers” who spend too much time at Sinclair's site and King's World News.
Regarding the challenges of future economic turmoils. I believe it is far better to have a warrior attitude than a true believer attitude.
What this means is that it is critical to train ourselves to be prepared for anything and everything.
Look, I was heavily long gold and miners in 2008 and had a buy and hold attitude.
I ended up having my head handed to me as gold and the miners sold off sharply.
Fortunately, I finally cut my losses and lived to play another day.
I learned important lessons in risk control from that experience and even when I am aggressively long gold/silver and the miners, I have exit strategies in case I am wrong.
And believe me, as savvy as I think I am, I have been very wrong, many times, about every market that I have traded.
So, what concerns me most is the complacency that I see from players at the boards that I participate in.
They seem to have no strategies to deal with the uncertainties that exists in the financial markets.
I think that this is born of innocence and arrogance, but whatever, it is an attitude that can prove to be fatal to one's financial survival.
The point of the game is to survive and prosper, not to be right about some opinions that we have about the way “things ought to be”.
