Someone was asking about the Geopolitical Risks with Albania
Someone was asking about the Geopolitical Risks with AlbaniaHere is a little insight I found in a press release this morning for Tirex Resources:
Minister John Baird to make official visit to Albania
Tirex Resources is pleased to announce that Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister John
Baird, will be making an official visit to Albania this upcoming Tuesday, September 2nd, 2014.
Canada is the largest source of foreign direct investment in Albania with Canadian companies
being particularly involved in the natural resource sector.
Tirex has invested approximately CAD $30 million in the Albanian mining sector and as the first
mover in a new era of Albanian mineral exploration and development, is particularly pleased as to
the visit of Minister Baird during this time of growing bilateral relations between the countries. In
addition to having received significant investment funding from the European Bank for
Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Tirex trades publicly in Canada, the United States and
the European Union and for many international investors, Tirex represents a first investment into
Albania.
During the trip, Minister Baird will meet with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, Minister of Foreign
Affairs Ditmir Bushati and President Bujar Nishani. Minister Baird will also attend a meeting with
various representatives of Canadian businesses, including Tirex Chief Executive Officer Bryan
Slusarchuk, with the topic being the furtherance of Canadian-Albanian business and investment
relations.
Minister Baird, remarking on the visit to Albania notes that "Canada strongly supports Albania's
path to European Union integration" and further describes Albania as "a like-minded NATO ally".
Not earth shattering but I certainly wouldnt take anything from the above as negative on the geopolitical front. Maybe Zip should swing him by Perlat for a tour!!!
