And to be fair while I have read this opinion in several places my only on the ground experience is my kids who have mac's but tell me they would never game on them given their feeling that consoles are far superior.
That's exactly the perception problem I talked about. Every Mac with a discrete (NVIDIA) GPU is hardware-wise very capable of running the latest games at high quality. But not many games get ported to Mac, so Windows computers and consoles get the perception of being superior. In effect they are the better buy for gamers. Individual game companies can't change that, so it's a viscious circle when they decide not to port to Mac. TransGaming could break that circle if they ported the majority of DirectX 11 games and allowed for simultaneous launches. They had some good momentum several years ago with Cider, but DirectX 9 technology has quickly started to become irrelevant since the new consoles launched. Ideally they should have had DirectX 11 support a couple years ago already when the games started being developed. So which AAA games was Mr. Gupta talking about, when he said they can do 4-5 this year, and double that the next? Even a glimpse of progress on DirectX 11 support would greatly restore my faith in them as a technology company.
