As a trader, but someone who is not trading TLT, I am happy to be adding to my core position today, as I have buys in the .20s, .30s, .40s, .50s, .60s, and .70s all in my portfolio.
Momentum here is growing with volatility. TLT are expert marketers, and I don't remember such a play where the strong hands have had such an incredible death grip on their shares.
This is easily a situation where mild 15% swings under a dollar mean absolutely nothing in the long run, as anyone who has been following this for more than a day knows that the hype ramping to human trials has potential for the investors to make the traders wonder if they are doing it all wrong.
Somebody showed yesterday a company in phase 2 testing for a vaccine-type drug, trading at half the market cap of TLT, and a much more significant net loss. Here, we have fundamentals to rest on, we have a mgmt/director team that is focused and aligned, we have diversified business, potential profitability to limit any future dilution, and a story that is just getting it's legs going.
Traders perceive TLT to be a pure pump and dump play, little do they know it is undervalued, and has a business unit that warrants a $1 share price excluding any discussion on the cancer research side.
Good post. Traders know TLT is more than a pump and dump... that's what makes it the perfect candidate for a pump and dump.
Looks like an organized group... they probably take deadlocks picks and accumulate, then sell on news, all while shorting it at the same time. They drive the price down selling their shares, then buy back at lower price to cover their short, then sell it down again. Manipulation of a penny stock. That's where the violent movements will come from, it's too bad good companies like TLT have to get dragged through this but as you say, this is a just a blip. If anything, maybe the volatility will attack attention and people that look into it over Christmas will have time to research the real story.
