An epiphany

An epiphany
I pulled up to the take out window at my favourite coffee shop recently. I paid and was handed my coffee. At that moment I had a decision to make. Put the coffee down unopened and drive away or, using two hands, open it right there, and then put it down.

Why would I choose the first one? Because I fear spilling hot coffee on myself and/or even if I manage to open the lid without spilling any coffee the engineering of the lid is such that it doesn't allow me to drink hot coffee without burning my lip or tongue. Better to let it cool in the cup for a while and then open it while driving. Of course that means I will need to use two hands to open my coffee while I am driving. Not exactly safe. And of course the risk of spilling is greater as the car will be moving. Who hasn't done that?

What if I want my coffee now? I don't want to wait till it cools down. In that case I open it, hoping not to spill it this time and probably sip it, risking a burn, before driving away from the window. The restaurant isn't happy with this approach as I am holding up the line. It's only ten seconds but all those ten seconds add up. The restaurant could serve a lot more customers if this didn't happen. When I put my coffee down and go over a bump it inevitably spills.

Now with the simply lid (simplylids.com) all that changes. When I am handed my coffee there is no critical decision to make. I can drive off immediately and enjoy my drink right away if I so choose. With one hand on the wheel and one hand on the cup I can use my index finger on the cup holding hand to move the slider and open the lid, take a swig and then with the same finger, move the slider back to the sealed position.

The drinking experience is just what you would get if you were drinking from a mug. Keeping one hand on the wheel I put the drink down, drive over a series of bumps and guess what - no spill. How do I know all this? I have a simply lid. Even though it is a disposable lid I have used the same lid over 20 times. That testifies to the quality of the product and the integrity of the lid. It's absolutely amazing.

Wow, I am completely convinced the new simply lid will dominate the marketplace one day. You will be too when you try it. And that doesn't even account for the marketing opportunities the slider accords.

A better mousetrap? Way better!!
