It is my understanding that unless you request "street form certificates" or delivery of your shares, any shares kept at your broker goes into a pool and becomes the vicarious "property" of the brokerage from which they willingly lend out for shorting. Another revenue stream fror the brokerages.

Seems like the "shorts" are every where, recently as with NIF they shorted a stock (T-NRI) below cash value, in this case was due to a "poor test result". Pretty brazen bunch.

Thanks for giving this board your analysis and historical perspective.
