RE:RE:RE:Environmental Impact Statement ApprovalStayCalm, i saw one article about a year ago hinting that the SC decision would be out in a month. Someone very powerful has delayed the decision it would seem but given that the President's uncle is Ricafort i'm not surprised. As for the govt issuance, look closely at the wording :
"the King-king Copper-Gold project ("the Project") in Mindanao, Philippines, announced today that together with its joint venture partner Nationwide Development Corporation (NADECOR), the Project has received approval of King-king's Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) from the Philippine Environmental Management Bureau (EMB), the responsible regulatory body in the Philippines. St. Augustine also announced that in connection with the EIS approval, the EMB has issued King-king's Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC)"
Notice that the "Project", not NADECOR nor either of the NADECOR parties, received approval. Also, the EC Certificate is "ISSUED" but it says nothing about to WHOM it is issued. So the government may be using the carrot approach as i have long suspected; the govt may wish to see an agreed upon by both parties solution to this and does not want to have a judicial ruling where one politically powerful side loses everything. By granting the certificate, but not to anyone specifically, the govt is saying to both groups, grow up, settle this and you'll have a lot to gain. Fail to do so and one of you will go home broke.
I'd like to see to what office that EC certificate gets mailed, maybe neither!
