ALMATY. KAZINFORM - The level of gasification of Kazakhstan will reach 56% by 2030. This was announced by the Vice Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Dzhaksaliyev during the 48th meeting of the CIS Electric Energy Council in Almaty.
'The growth of Kazakhstan's economy continues even amid the global financial crisis, and one of the foundations of all its sectors is the energy system of the country. Last year, the volume of oil exports amounted to 62.4 million tons, gas production amounted to 43.2 billion cubic meters. The international gas transit through the territory of our country amounted to 91.4 billion cubic meters. In 2014, there was developed the General Scheme of gasification of the country, according to which its level in 2030 will reach 56% or 1.6 thousand settlements, and consumption will increase up to 18 billion cubic meters,' said B.Dzhaksaliyev.
The Vice Minister of Energy stressed that even in case of the decrease in world prices for hydrocarbons, metals, and other items of Kazakhstan's export - the country implements the program 'Nurly Zhol', in the framework of which the construction of power lines, work is underway on modernization of energy-producing organizations and the national power grid.
'In order to achieve the objectives for the development of renewable energy and to bring its share in electricity production up to 3% by 2020 - this year it is planned to put into operation about 23 facilities, including eight solar power plants. Their gross installed capacity - about 432 megawatts,' said B.Dzhaksaliyev.
Among the promising projects he noted the project on the extraction of methane from coal seams, the use of which will enable to significantly improve the socio-economic situation in some regions of the country, to solve the problem with gasification of Astana, to significantly improve the safety of work in coal mining, and to improve the environmental situation.
