the chinese lost billions but bought Nexen anyway hoping to recoup their loss in OPTI by finishing Long Lake but as they say, a dog will always be a dog.  By buying Nexen, the chinese had compounded their problem.  I was hoping CNOOC buy Talisman instead but it didn't turn out that way. Repsol is laughing now by getting talisman for 8 bucks with 1+ year hedges @$100 oil and $5 natural gas.
