I believe that his management company merely buys and sells third party funds to clients , some of which he manages for the third party ie BMO. He is a fee for service manager so his fee is over and above the funds MER. This layering of fees could make it expensive, but to each their own !
As as a fund manager for a third party the fund performance will be reported as the third party results not his company.
Please correct me if I am out to lunch on this .
Berman is all about low risk and ETF's and trying to not ever give advice that someone will call him on as something that made them lose money. If you have that kind of attitude, it is just a given that you ignore something volatile like oil and who cares if you're wrong and missed an opportunity, as long as you are always saying don't buy, no one can ever blame you for buying it before it goes down.
