RE:RE:RE:Third Quarter woes?Fares are matched. Agreed. To a point. You basically saw a flash sale to Beijing on a Chinese carrier.
AC may or may not decide to match. If they do, it would be a very few block of seats. Same goes for the Chinese carrier. The competition has on average 329 seats. AC has 400 on their slave ship 777.
more seats means we can charge lower. There's 50 k extra in revenue per flight. We are mowing the competitions lawn to Asia.
Now let me explain OZ to you .
Our busy season is our winter. Aussies come here in droves to ski. And Canucks fly there in droves to escape the cold. Last winter AC added double daily from YVR 3 times per week. That's 10 runs.
Wont happen this year. We have Brisbane now .
The $ 1000 fare you see is always a connecting flight. Book a flight on AC tonight out of YVR to SYD.
$1568. NONSTOP !!
Then book a flight nonstop this winter on AC. Surprise ! 2500 ! All of these fares are economy class.
so if you want to take a 15 hour trip nonstop , great ! Or connect thru lax or sfo and save yourself a few hundred and stay awake for 24 hours ( and back ). You'll arrive in OZ only to sleep away a full day to recover.
Same applies to London. 1000 $ ... Connection. Ac tomorrow is way north of 1000. Westjet wants 1475!!
We surprised everyone with Q1.
Again , I believe this management team knows what they are doing. The company will continue to surprise in my opinion.
Little about me. Flew heavy jets ( widebodys ) in my old life . I'm not here to pump.
Just the facts.
