New CEO at Helomics

Lawrenceville cancer diagnostics company has new CEO

Gerald Vardzel has been named CEO of Lawrenceville-based cancer diagnostics company Helomics Corp., replacing Neil Campbell, according to two people familiar with the change, but who were not authorized to speak publicly about it. Mr. Vardzel, a University of Pittsburgh graduate, was previously vice president of corporate development at Global Specimen Solutions Inc., a contract research organization in Raleigh, N.C. Mr. Campell had been Helomics CEO since 2014 when the company was acquired by Stamford, Conn.-based private equity firm HealthCare Royalty Partners and changed the company’s name from Precision Therapeutics.
