RE:RE: China is capable of building airplanesI think we have all seen that it is a very difficult thing to bring a new commercial airliner into service. Existing c919 sales appear to be within China for domestic routes. C 919 will need Canadian, American, European certification etc., for it to sell/fly elsewhere. Also not easy thing, as without experience in achieving the required standards for these jurisdictions, could be like pulling teeth,
The Chinese domestic market is probably big enough to make the C919 a success. If it is able to sell/fly outside of that, it will likely be cheap relative to other types. To compete, BBD can only do so much to bring costs down by parring down extraneous expense. The key is scale, the more CSeries built/sold, the cheaper they get.
Im thinking the c919 may turn out to be a pretty good aircraft, but it has a long road to travel to get there.
Staying long, may good fortune follow us all.
