Protect kids from premature Cannabis AbuseTrudeau and Blair accept that 40 % of Canadians choose Marijuana use and they will respect that
decision with safe controlled regulated production and distribution.
However, under the age 18 the kids (and CMA says 25) who have growing and developing brains MJ use is a DIFFERENT issue that requires attention.
There is NO doubt that THC (and CBD) are potent drugs with psychoactive and medicinal components.
There is also NO doubt that MJ or weed is SAFER than alcohol and opiods (Heroin Morphine Oxycontin Fentanyl Vicodin etc ) and cocaine.
However, kids can typically ABUSE even safe drugs by "getting high" before school and avoiding work responsibilites and even adults can have their Marijuana consumption (use or abuse or overuse) affect relationships with spouses that may not agree with their newfound good feelings.
The point is to to NOT to allow under kids unfetered access any drugs including "safe MJ" from unsavory "drug pushers" who MAY engage in criminal activity besides MJ (such as guns heroin debt collection by knee knocking etc) and to NOT to encourage a teenage lifestyle of profligate abuse that adversely affects performance in school or work or driving a vehicle.
Anyone with teenagers 13 to 19 know the challenges of providing them the needed direction and motivation to "stay on the right track" to success both in school and work.
Trudeau has noble asperations in hti sregard and he has children and so does Blair and many members of parliament and this issue of safety is paramount both for adult users and underage minors.
