8% + 1% (minimum) term loan, a CEO and a COO to manage a firm that does not even produce 4,000 boe/d...

These guys woke up one morning and realized that their salaries would stagnate if the company did not grow production. So hey, why don't we eliminate the dividend, raise more debt and fund growth with it?

Seems to be the game with these juniors in Calgary. Very very few that are well managed.

While I do not disagree that the Canadian banks were keeping a tight leash on them (and with reason since so many small players have failed) and with the amount of dividends paid each year they had little flexibility left. However, they could have moved to a smaller payout with some growth.

Now, everyone who was interested in a cheap oil stock, with low decline rate, good netbacks AND a nice dividend will now be looking around for other juniors with better growth prospects. Sad!
