Here's the reason that management needs to given options:
1) It aligns management with shareholders.
2) It compensates management with positive share price appreciation. ( It aligns management with shareholders.)
3) Management makes more money when the share price goes up. ( It aligns management with shareholders.)

So Comrade Moose does that help clarify things for you? Ye who is unmolested by enlightenment.

Management MUST be aligned with shareholders - this is one of the key ways by which to do so.

Most potential investors who are sophisticated bring up management's lack of options and share ownership as a negative. This award is to cure that issue.
