Riddle me this folks....

Nasdaq closed today up 2.87% @ $10.40 US versus Toronto close up 1.96% @ $14.03 CDN.

Why the huge difference of approx. 2/3 the U.S. gain or 50% more than our gain?

I don't see how dollar exchange could affect these figures as they are a (relative) constant, only a difference in the day to day rate should.
