'Cheniere talks with more Montney players' US liquefied natural gas player Cheniere Energy is in talks with more Montney producers to secure supply deals for its US Gulf Coast liquefaction facilities, a company official said on Wednesday.
Chief commercial officer Anatol Feygin did not disclose how many Montney operators Cheniere is speaking with, but said the company is in discussions with "many players".
Cheniere revealed earlier this year it had entered a supply deal with a producer in Canada's massive Montney shale, a move the company believes was driven by delays in getting a West Coast LNG facility built out.
Feygin on Wednesday said that in order for producers in Western Canada to get their hydrocarbons to the West Coast for export, a $7 billion pipeline would have to be built. TransCanada has been eyeing build-out of such pipelines following sanctioning of western Canadian LNG projects.
