RE:Technical Question on Completions

RE:Technical Question on Completions
WillowTree789 wrote: I am wondering...

When a well completion is only partially successful I think some of the hydrocarbons are released.

If a recompletion is conducted on that same well does that mean there will be a higher amount of hydrocarbons released if the well had never been fracked before?  Maybe my theory is incorrect but I am thinking there is already gas floating around in the well from the 1st blasts.  Therefore, a second fracking attempt will release a lot more gas than if the well had never been fracked in the first place.

Any expert opinions welcomed on this post.  Thanks in advance.

It all depends of frac pressure. If the sections that were already properly fracked are not subject to higher frac pressures, then the productivity would not change appreciably.

Of course, the zones that were only partially fracked, or not fracked at all, will most likely improve.
