RE:RE:RE:CBD benefitsSince I'm a natural product biochemist working on plant specialized metabolism, I'd love nothing more than for you to tell me the difference. I've been under the impression that modern pharmaceuticals were originally isolated directly from plants and microorganisms (mostly). With the advancement of synthetic organic chemistry, we can synthesize these drugs so we can produce them in larger quantities and stop relying on growing the plant/microorganism to extract a single, useful drug. Additional methylations, hydroxylations, acetylations, glycosylations, phosphorylations... ect allowed us to produce a plethora of new drugs all derived from the skeletons on natural products found in plants/microorganisms. We've been cultivating and extracting cannabinoids for over 1000 years, ever heard of hashish? One of the first 'big pharma' drugs avaliable in pre-1000 AD.
I might be wrong, please educate me. Gotta love hippies.
