I'm not with you on 1.5x BV - no financials hold that position for long. But I don't have any data on current shorts. The volume sure has been low - - it's not hard to "suppress" a stock price when some days you only trade 5,000 shares.  I know it's summer, but...

Also not seeing any signs of a recession.  I know people are worried about so-called "risky" loans but EQB and other marginal lenders still require high downs - it'll take quite a drop for people to want to walk away from properties that they've got a third of their own equity into.  And as long as their income remains solid, those mortgages will remain just so. The unknown risk I see is if President Twitler keeps making up policy on the fly, the $US will keep tumbling til at last it becomes competitive with the $CDN again, at which point, there will go our comparative advantage.
