their pound of fleshThe resignation of Price , the Health Secretary, must be viewed in a wider context and not be taken at face value. Given the impasse the GOP finds itself with the ACA and the lack of plausible alternative, Trump had to lean on Schumer and Polosi, the Democrats, to get him out of the bind. In return, he offered Price as the sacrificial lamb to the DEMS. Price was known as the hawk on Health care and wanted to abolish the Obama Care at any cost; go back to each for himself, the GOP dogma of free market regardless whether the poor could afford the insurance rates for coverage. So we may be at the cusp of some kind of accomodation from the DEMS to keep the ACA with the proviso that some major overhauls can be made in the existing system. On the other hand the GOP have every interest to find some kind of accomodation with the DEMS in view of the more radical proposal of B. Sanders who has put forward the single payor system that Canada has. Whatever the course of action by Trump and co. Medicare and Medicaid will still be here with some minor adjustments in cost cutting and streamlining of services. What the final outcome will be is too early to tell. But i don't think it will be very disruptive.
