1. Delegates from Jamaica visited Tweed in Smith Falls years ago. I don't know if they have had follow up trips, but it was a long time ago that Jamaican officials first met with WEED management.
2. The most recent press release regarding the continuing relationshp with DNA Genetics carves out Jamaica as part of the deal...nothing has been announced on Jamaica, but that is a pretty interesting comment that did not need to be part of the release. I also think WEED is more conservative than its peers about how it puts out information and therefore I tend to put more credence on what they say versus the others who I think are still living in the hopes and dreams and fairy tale world.
3. As you point out Jamaica has incredible cannabis chops. Very few countries in the world have the same degree of experience with it and the way Jamaica does it is pretty much without shame. And they have great genetics and land race strains to support their unique cannabis culture.
4. If WEED can get its brands into tourist destination locations like Jamaica and hopefully one day Vegas, etc. it will do nothing but reinforce the first mover branding, distribution and operational advantage they have secured obviously.
5. Because WEED is already so well built out in Canada it can focus its resources better on these new growth opportunities. I think this may be the most critical point of all in terms of how this industry shapes up. WEED because it is already humming along in Canada has the money, managerial talent, breeding/genetics, grow experience and marketing/branding depth to expand internationally better than any other company right now. All the others are desperately trying to catch-up and need to invest more heavily in Canada just to keep pace. WEED already ran those early laps and can now focus its energies on new opportunities much better than its competitors. Some may disagree with this, but I think the first mover advantage WEED secured is now going to pay handsomely in these types of expansion initiatives.
I can write just BRAVO! for this post
