climate change mismanagement The Pope, a leading climate change activist, promotes clean energy and saving the environment. That's all fine and dandy, but he never mentions the Malthusian side of the equation. As the world population increases, the demand for natural resources will inevitably increase, putting more pressure on the eco system. The Amazonian forest is being chopped down because there are millions of Brazilians looking for work. Men need to feed their families, are they supposed to starve ? While most agree that taking care of the environment is important, the strategies being implemented are poorly planned and costly to tax payers. Ontario is a prime example. They have cooked up half baked ideas that will jack up hydro rates over the next decade, reducing manufacturer's competitiveness and freezing grannies out of their homes. The subsidies to Tesla are a complete joke, funnelling money to California manufacturing while Ontario is losing high paying manufacturing jobs. Energy taxes are REGRESSIVE, hurting those with lower incomes the most (lower income households spend a larger % of their income on gasoline, natural gas and hydro). The poor will get poorer, while the government ideologues get spiritually richer, knowing they have appeased the environmental gods. Montreal's elation after the Energy East project was cancelled, is causing a huge rift between the eastern and western provinces. The PC's are correct in pointing out that Quebec received Alberta's transfer payments for decades and now they spit in their face. Whatever your political stripes, Canada needs to get it's act together on moving energy freely (oil, nat gas and hydro-electricity) between provinces. While the federal government is always keen on signing free trade deals with sovereign nations, they are failing miserably in facilitating the free movement of energy across provincial borders. Canada first. Urban centres are getting warmer because more people are migrating their - concrete is replacing trees and vegetation that serve to cool. To place all the blame on the energy industry is idiotic. Plant more trees, lay some sod, they love C02.
