OnTheBalance, I really hope people read your post and take it as a sound piece of advice towards building their own portfolio. Every investor has different goals, but a lot of the fun in handling your own investments is the process of stumbling upon companies, researching, and making informed buys...that's how I came upon AC a few years back. I often track a company for months before buying shares, so that I am familiar with their patterns. It's great to make quick gains - always has been and always will, however it is a sound long-term strategy that will allow a portfolio to grow and perform well year in, year out.
