Name Change

Name ChangeDoes anyone know, what would happen if sometime in the future, Bombardier had a name change on the stock market, say to, Airbus Bombardier ! The reason I ask is ,my son had Laidlaw Transport stock and it changed to Laidlaw Bus and he lost all, Zippo! Is this possible in our scenario ?
