RE:RE:CES

RE:RE:CESI can remember playing that game with the company I work for.  Except it was the NAB Show and not CES.  The reason is simple:  return on investment when doing the shows.  Quite frankly the cost of a single booth space, drayage, slipping the union guys money to get your stuff brought to your booth, and a whole pile more of add ons really adds up.  When all is said and done a CES Show attendance  for a company like ITC with a booth in a high enough traffic area could be 200K or even more.  Getting the hotel suite keeps the cost down.  It is up to ITC to generate sales appointments before the show starts.

Being in a B to B business myself I an not really certain that trade shows do much from the point of making immediate sales.  It’s the drinking and dinners at those shows that helps build relationships that can turn into real sales opportunities.

I am am sure there are those here that think ITC not having a front and centre booth with dancers, flashing lights, etc. means they are going out of business.  While they can always go out of business, saving bucks by not having a main floor CES booth is not the canary in the coal mine for.
