Orvana Minerals Corp. is a multi-mine gold-copper-silver company. It is involved in the evaluation, development and mining of precious and base metal deposits. Its assets consist of the producing El Valle and Carles gold-copper-silver mines in northern Spain, the Don Mario gold-silver property in Bolivia, and the Taguas property located in Argentina. The El Valle and Carles mines and the El Valle processing plant are a producer of copper concentrate and dore. El Valle is located in Asturias, Northern Spain. The Don Mario Operation is in San Jose de Chiquitos, Southeastern Bolivia. The Don Mario Operation consists of a set of assets that includes Las Tojas orebody, and the previously mined out lower mineralized zone, upper mineralized zone and Cerro Felix mines. The Taguas Property consists of 15 mining concessions over an area of 3,273.87 hectares, held and managed by its subsidiary Orvana Argentina S.A. Taguas is located in the province of San Juan, on the eastern flank of the Andes.

Not so fast to jump to the wrong conclusion!  What impressed me about this quarter's results is that gold recovery is up to 95 percent, which is an improvement over the 93.8 percent from last quarter.  How many 3 metal process plants with gravity circuits, flotation circuits, and CIL get a recovery that is as good as 95 percent for gold, and 81 percent for copper running 37 percent oxide ore?

So the increase in the oxide ore might be causing a process upset and a build up in process gold in the mill.  if that is the case, then we should see a jump in gold production next quarter after the plant operators resolve this problem.

Costs should be way down because Carles was not mined this quarter, and the throughput was down by 60,000 metric tons from the previous quarter.

Meanwhile, in Bolvia, Don Mario had another profitable quarter.  Don Mario continues to surprise with positive results.  Maybe it is time to open up a second low cost mine in Bolivia?
