The mid 2000s were a unique time.
Since then the fracking technology has changed the oil landscape and the USA is a top 3 oil producer again.

Add the fact that 99% of Canada's oil/gas production can only be exported to the USA and the Americans purchase it at firesale prices.

When the TransMountain pipeline to the Pacific is expanded (2020?) then the situation will improve slightly. As will the IPL plant to convert ng to a plastic compound. Also reasonable hope that Shell will build an LNG plant in BC .-> 5 year wait?

Yes the Canadian economy is stronger and unemployment is dropping quickly. ACQ also diversified outside AB in the past few years. So it has a stronger base, less dependent on Alberta.

I can see $30 by year end, but not much more in this economic cycle.
