Gold Corp blockade

Gold Corp blockadeGold Corp's Penasquito mine in Mexico was blockaded in Oct 2016 AND Oct 2017.
The Oct 2017 blockade lasted only 2-3 days.  The Oct 2016 blockade began on Sep 26, 2016 and ended Oct 7, 2016.   Any idea how those were resolved?  There are lots of situations like Torex' current situation in Mexico, but they don't usually last this long.

I wonder if the situation at Torex is dragging on so long because the company isn't giving in on some demands, or if it's because the Los Mineros union is intentionally trying to drag the process out.  In any case, I hope the Mexican national government will acknowledge the unreasonableness of the delays caused by the strikers (unwilling to call the vote they have been agitating for), and ensure Torex's continued operations.

Maybe that new law will help.
