RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Olympus Removes HLD: Recommends only Sterilization of Scope!

RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Olympus Removes HLD: Recommends only Sterilization of Scope!Another significant advantage (in addition to being able to sterilize scopes that the competition cannot) is with, for example, this URF-P6 or URF-P6R uretero-renoscope for which Olympus now recommends only sterilization, is that THREE of these scopes can be sterilized in the VP4 with a single cycle, (as opposed to only one scope per cycle with the competition's inferior sterilant delivery systems). This clearly makes the VP a more cost effective and efficient option.

The other thing to note in the Olympus document is that they acknowledge that this scope is used to enter sterile renal tissue and for this reason needs to be sterile. This is a defacto recognition of a change to the Spaulding Classification of these devices: if a scope is being used for a sterile procedure, it must be sterile. This is no different from the use of a duodenoscope (or other scope, especially a gastroscope) to perform sterile procedures in the stomach, the gall bladder, or the bile duct. This is, to my knowledge, the first public recognition of this need for sterilization for such scopes by an OEM and surely also gives recognition to the fact that these other scopes, especially duodenoscopes, must be sterilized! (Now, we must patiently wait for the FDA to acknowledge that TSO3's VP4 does have the unique ability to sterilize these duodenoscopes.)
