PROtrading wrote: April 29th 2018 (Canada) In its fight to remain the most valued company in the marijuana space, Canopy Growth (WEED.TO) is losing ground to its two biggest competitors Aurora Cannabis (ACB.TO) and Aphria (APH.TO).
It's achilles heel is the focus on it's custom "brands" which are ignored by true marijuana connoisseurs. "Users don't want to see custom brands, that's what marketing deparments peddling this stuff want to do. If they listened to their customers, they would obviously know consumers will research the stains that work best for them, then go on price and quality" anonymous sources close to the industry indicate.
Canopy's quest to forge ahead with custom brands has it's main online retail operation unfriendly to weed connoisseurs who will research strains on neutral strain review sites like
leafly.com and then go hunting for quality and price. "Yes, secondary brands might help with quality but the primary focus will be availability, price and strains" said one source close to the industry.
"It's a complete mess with Canopy! You can't google "Tweed" "Blue Dream" you get women's pants as the top hit!"
https://www.google.com/search?q=tweed+%22blue+dream%22 Why is this important? Blue Dream for example has held the #1 most popular strain position for years yet, it's impossible to know if one can purchase it from Canopy!
"Canopy markets marijuana through several custom brands including Tweed, Spectrum, DNA Genetics, Leafs, Bedrocan, CraftGrow, FORIA. It's possible for an average consumer to figure out how to buy the world's leading strain "Blue Dream" for example". That's a mistake.
Investors in this space should visit top strain review sites such as
leafly.com, look up top leading strains as some have done, then research all these licensed producers in Canada. It's clear that Canopy fails miserably.
Canopy Online shop
https://www.tweedmainstreet.com/collections/available doesn't even have a search feature!
Google the strain's name along with the producer to see that Aphria and Aurora both carry the strain. Canopy? Who knows!
