Been following this story for awhile-looking for a possible entry as a value play-am long only.
 
I have not been able to find any information on that deal publicly. I read the Empire annual report, and didnt find sufficient details(maybe someone else can scour it and find some crumbs)

I am not sure it is a great model-EMP.A/Sobeys took a bath in the purchases of Safeway previously, so not sure this deal will come again
 
Just in terms of the challenges of this business-the quote from the seller of Petes- in the link you posted is telling:
 
"It’s a significant change. The fruit and vegetable trade, he says, is a “24-7 pressure-pot business.” “It’s (always) on your mind — that inventory is dying by the second,” he says. Wine, meanwhile, is “getting better by the minute.”
