RE:RE:RE:RE:NWT articleNo, likely it is just and issue of capacity to do the hiring etc. You have to remember there are only about 5000 Tlicho people, maybe a few more live in Yellowknife and elsewhere, so to have to manage all the self government and community governement associated with the land claim is a big undertaking, which is somewhat overwhelming, let alone to deal with the installation of a new road and a fairly large mine development.
I think the Tlicho are very concerned about social issues getting worse as a result of development and influx of people and money and also they are dedicated to their land and historical way of life. The Tlicho have negotiated a territory that is 39,000 km2, that is almost the size of Nova Scotia! But many of their concerns can be found in the MVLWB approval for the Tlicho All Season Road.
