Their Solar division was a loser when they bought it. It's still a loser and I seriously doubt they can sell it. To many other cheap and easy as well as readily available components for regular off the grid power. 

I suspect their main reason for not just shutting it down is more legal than anything. 

Likely contractual obligations to maintain the systems already installed for a certain time period   that would cost them a lot more to cover their obligations on than just keeping it and trying to stem the bleeding. 

This is just IMHO of course. I was dead against the acquisition of their Solar division from day one. I should have gotten out around that time. I had a lot fewer units than I do now back then.
