NAFTA spoint #2 - Dairy industry and subsidies This is a sticking point, and not subject to discussion becuase of the Quebec elecitions - October 1.
So the DJT timelines are really mistimed, for Canada, if you are trying to negotiate any concessions.
Quebec Dairy farmers are a significant voting base in the province and will have impact in this election. The liberals are fighting for seats. Any give on this issue could sink them in this election.
So wait until after Oct 1, and maybe not even then as federal Liberal candidates will take heat for dairy concessions.
Now what's interesting is The US and Canada had previously negotiated favorable quopta's, so DJT's blasting Canada on unfair practices is nonsense.
"As part of this system, Canada has negotiated import quotas with each of its major trading partners. The U.S. has obtained a favorable quota and, as a result, exports more dairy products to Canada than it imports from Canada. In 2017, Americans sold $792 million in dairy products to Canada, while Canadians sold $149 million in dairy products to the U.S., creating a tidy trade surplus for the U.S. of nearly $650 million."

Canada is a threat to US dairy????? Really? The US already sells over 4 times the dairy to Canada than Canada sells to the US.
Now if the DJT rhetoric isn't "fake news" I don't know what is!
Wake up people ansd stop drinking the kool-aid.
