RE:Dr Solis doing work You can see Dr. Solis smiling, the connection he has with the residents of the community is notorious, not only in this photo but also in the July press conference, especially if you listen to it in the original language (Spanish). I'm not at all worried about the relations with the communities of Chacaconiza and its surroundings, because as you notice the company is doing great in the socialization of the project with the community members. What does worry me a bit is the attitude that some of the voters of Aduviri have, against the exploitation of lithium by a private company. Although of the 50% who supported Aduviri these extremists must be less than half (I believe that 20% of the total population of Puno) and are mostly concentrated in the southern area of Puno, they are quite active politically speaking, so we must be prepared for the organized protests they surely will conduct when the figures from Falchani PEA show up, keeping in mind the prior consultation will only involve those directly affected by the operations, that is, the communities of Chacaconiza and the surrounding area.
Walter Aduviri is trying to get out of the equation, arguing that the final decision wil be made by the communities directly affected, so I think he will avoid a direct meeting with Ulises Solis. His position regarding the exploitation of resources is clear and radical (he would like to imitate the Bolivian model), but he recognizes that under the current legal framework (which he would like to change) the decision falls only on the communities directly affected. In fact, this distant position would already have disappointed some of its most radical followers:
