I agree with your point. However, some on this board often make comments that there is no such thing as manipulation.
This being said, I do not mind shorters as I changed my investment strategy with Bombardier. I am not long anymore, riding all the wavews up or down.
Obviously shorters have a very negative impact on the value of the stock and sometime push the price down to ridiculously low level as it was the case recently.
I look at this as opportunities to buy low and sell high. This is what I tried to do after Q2 results when I sold all of my position ant $5+ with the clear intent of buying back all of my former position plus more with the profit generated.
However, I admit that I screwed up real bad by buying back way too early. Yes I now have way more shares than before but the net value of my position is well down. Honestly, I was anticipating a good drop in the SP but certainly not from above $5 down to well below $2.
I guess this is a good lesson learned for me.
