The distribution's impact depends on how many non-resident holders of shares exist at the record date of the distribution. Now, if non-resident holders are aware of terms of distribution I guess all of them should have sold beforehand. I have no idea how many non-resident shares are held but let's say it is 5MM out of 35MM. If the distribution is 1/20th of a share (equiv to ~71c) on the 30MM shares held by residents I reckon as a Canadian resident I could end up with 4 additional shares for every 1,000 shares I hold. So, there might be some financial benefit after all...but non-resident shareholder sould have to be asleep at the wheel as any increase I get comes from them, not the company!
