Aphria Inc. APHA

Aphria, which is headquartered in Ontario, produces and sells medicinal and recreational cannabis. The company operates through retail and wholesale channels in Canada and internationally. Aphria is a main distributor of medical cannabis to Germany and has operations in over 10 countries outside of Canada. However, it does not have exposure to the U.S. CBD or THC markets due to the constraints of federal prohibition. It has some U.S. exposure through the acquisition of SweetWater, a craft brewer

My Story

My StorySo much speculation and back and forth.  Not sure what to believe.

This was a tough week.  I’ve had tougher...like a diagnosis of cancer.  But we beat that.  I say “we” because something like that is a team effort.  We should be making this a team effort.

Next week is crucial...LHS, Citron, and of course Ahpria rebuttals.

Though this week was cruel, it’s the culmination of a long grind since 17 Oct.

My APHA story...I did my DD (or so I thought) in early September and decided to buy 20K shares at 18.  It was off a recent high of 22 and with legalization a month away it just seemed right.  After legalization I started to average down, some at 17, more at 16.  Sold some blue chips to ‘dollar cost average’ at 15 and at 13.  To my dismay it was 60K shares at average of just over 16.

So by the Friday when it was trading at 10.20 I had already been ground down over the six weeks prior.  Then the bomb of Monday.

I had not invested more than I could afford to lose...but I lost a lot.  My own responsibility getting in too deep on one stock.

Despite selling 60K at a huge loss, I have bought 25K back...primarily because of Greco’s poor showing with Amanda Laing as well as the other holes starting to surface.  Some on Reddit did a phenomenal job of debunking some of the claims.

I bet on the potential that the upcoming rebuttal and the Citron report will bring this back.  Certainly not 100 percent sure.  Nervous.

But I stand by my assertion that it has to be the entire Board presenting the rebuttal...I want some demonstrations of a strong alliance between them.  If Neufeld claims innocence I want to see their heads nodding up and down in unison (like when a politician speaks and the peanut gallery standing behind shows support).  They also need to be in suits and ties.  As you state DD1964, the Sopranos look is out for this gang, time to show some respect to the shareholders.  Someone said innocent until proven guilty.  I buy that, but legally innocent is one thing, this CEO (and his team) need to demonstrate they can and will do better.  They need a PR department that is on top of things like congratulating SDM for their success and how they look forward to being one of their major suppliers.  They need to start supplying reports from the field and re-releasing the successful reviews of products like Broken Coast.  Vic may be innocent of legal issues, but he is guilty of not getting ahead of this and thus allowing room for doubt.  He is guilty of hubris, especially if he did not accept 22 from Altria.  I hope this winds up being just a painful wake up call.  Let’s hope next week goes well.
