Unfortunately oil does not have a long term future, in my opinion, due to its environmental impacts and the rise of EVs.
Having said that, EVs are not fully viable yet, so a transition strategy should be in place to ensure an adequate oil supply until oil is replaced as the king of transportation. Also, a transition strategy for the people in the industry should be in place. These strategies should have come from the industry itself and from the governnment. Both of these have failed.
One thing I do not understand is why are people criticizing the government for buying oil from Saudi Arabia? Is it the government who is buying, or is it the gasoline producers?
How could the government influence where the oil comes from?
If these questions are answered, then legitimate pressure can be placed on the government to take specific measures. So far, though, I’ve only seen slogans (e.g. stop buying oil from Saudi Arabia).
When you go to the battle, you need to have a plan, not just slogans.
Anyway, I wish you luck. We may argue here about Canopy, but I hope this gets resolved for you and the others affected.
Oooo Oil talk. The problem with Canada is that its trying to starve the industry that could likely lead the world in responsible energy production. Canada does it cleaner and safer than anyone else, and the profits earned having a higher portion going towards renewable funding.
The problem with Canada is it thinks its can cut supply and someone solve the worlds energy sorrows. Responsible Energy reduction happens at the demand level, and energy demand is global.
Cutting your legs out so you cant get resources (the one thing that Canada has been blessed with) out into competetive markets, and that you FAILED to build a domestic market for.. what a travesty.
