2019-01-23 14:29 ET - News Release
Mr. Boris Ziger reports
DORVAL RECEIVES LICENCE UNDER EXCISE ACT AND RECEIVES STARTING MATERIALS
Matica Enterprises Inc.'s 70-per-cent-owned RoyalMax Biotechnology Canada's cannabis growing facility in Dorval, Que., has received rooted starting materials. Pursuant to a site visit of the facility by an agent of the Canada Revenue Agency in late December, 2018, RoyalMax Biotechnology Canada Inc. is in receipt of a cannabis licence under the Excise Act, 2001. This licence, issued on Monday, Jan. 21, 2019, was required prior to receiving starting materials.
The company will commence the growing cycle immediately. The company anticipates its first harvest in approximately 11 weeks. RoyalMax will begin specializing in one strain with a very high tetrahydrocannabinol concentration. In the coming weeks, other strains will be introduced.
CRA administers the Exise Act.
Excise Act Besttofu wrote: So it states clearly on the application process as follows
“Your application for a cannabis licence is not an approval to start your business activities relating to cannabis. You can only start to produce cannabis products after you receive licences from both the CRA and Health Canada.”
