Respectfully, I really disagree with you. You have access to up to date info on the status of the patent and you have an interest in that. PRs are for catching everyone, ALL shareholders and potential investors.

Still in progress is not news. If they get the patent or the application is withdrawn, that is news. You are assuming that everyone wants to follow as closely as you. Imagine reading a PR today about a company you had never heard of announcing that their application for a patent continues to be in progress. Wouldn't you wonder why the hell you are reading something like that?
