Wino115 wrote: As we all know, small cap stocks can be both highly volatile (up & down) and sustain longer periods of being well above and well below "intrinsic value" - what the business is worth objectively based on financial returns.  I suspect this board has all sorts of average costs, but you can also look at past periods of enthusiasm (in hindsight, over-enthusiasm) and depression and see daily/weekly/monthly runs that are huge.  That can happen in a small cap.

But the saying you need to remember for small caps is that today's price doesn't know what it was a month ago, a year ago, etc...  In other words, it's a forward looking indicator based on forward expected financial results, not their financial results from a year ago.  More than any other factor, stock prices are correlated with financial results and potential future financial results discounted to today. If you want to see what some people who follow the stock think it's actually worth based on their projections, take a look at the vaious analyst reports out there and fudge around with their numbers as you see fit.  The range of recent valuation exercises from them have calculated "intrinsic value" at between $5 and $12 for the current business.  The "stretch" targer for RBC is $16, which requires a few more developments.  I think Echelon is around $12 or $13, Mackie is $6.  So if you think they can hit those various financial targets and  strategic targerts, yes - it can go well above your average cost.  Biotechs who "prove-up" a new therapy into a Phase 3 can often show extreme volatility, both up and down.  In the end, it's all about what you think it's worth based on proabilities of hitting various financials - both in short term and longer term.  If you look back, you can see some of the RBC models posted and a comparison between RBC and Cannacord financial models.

As a new guy here, noticing that SP has fell for a good long while.... makes me wonder; where are your averages at? Are you worried about getting back there in the next say 12-18 months? I just got here and im already worried I bought too soon. I'd waited since 4.60 ish.. and thought I would be close enough to the bottom now, but I may be very wrong, time will tell.

The guy asked a specific question why dont you answer it and not give him a page long answer how small caps are volatile and intrinsic value etc. Something like this, me personally in at 11.00 down about 60000 thousand dollars. Maybe one day you and speo1 can do the same
