Spinco?

Spinco?Have any of you BB readers ever had a spinco before, and if so, when the spinco is distributed to qualified recipients, is there a value per share?

Is the spinco held privately by the qualified shareholders before being listed on an exchange or is the spinco automatically trading on an exchange when it is good to go?

I read that a spinco must be approved by the relevant exchange the parent company is listed on.
Would that be done before the spinco and its criteria is announced to shareholders or after.
