Environmental activism in Ecuador can create all sorts of issues for any company ... inspections, permitting process, suspensions .... especially for a company that has a history of disrespect of the environment in another country ... say Peru .. for example.
There is a well organized group in the Portovelo / Zaruma / Celica regions that I've been following for a number of years.
